We have come to live odd times. So odd they must have disoriented us as much as they did the first Neanderthal, who arrived at the conclusion that sometimes you are safer outside than inside a cave (for instance during an earthquake). There were some epidemics in the past, but most of the humanity survived and eventually learned something from them. When cholera roamed Europe, people figured out that it must be related to water; consequently, the French were afraid to wash anymore and invented the best perfumes and the Dutch, who survived on drinking beer (the tiny alcohol concentration killed the microbe) made a craft and a good export of it. There are people in Europe still immune to pest, given their surviving ancestors throughout the Middle Ages epidemics. The germs in general were the first to populate Earth and it is only normal for them to claim the space we took from them.
Conversely, the viruses are not living beings – I want to make that clear for the animal protection organizations – they invade a cell in the body of the victim and use their defining nuclear content (Nucleic Acid) to take over the cell and subdue it , diverting the cell
from its normal activity into producing new viral proteins which gather forming new viruses and spread to attack new cells. This is how the virus spreads into our body and if there is no (adequate) immune response, the infected cells will die and soon the entire body will cease to function – the patient dies.
The regular flue is triggered by DNA viruses, the new Corona virus is an RNA virus, which comes from animals and cannot be produced in a lab (so much for the scenario lovers). The regular source for the flue viruses was and remains S-E Asia, because of densely populated areas where people live next to their animals (chicken, pigs, goat, etc.). Apart from this, Asian cuisine has the particularity of enabling the use of very exotic ingredients (see Chinese cuisine) amongst which: dog, pangolin, bat, rat, insects, etc. some of them inspiring very spicy and tasty foods. The problem is many of these animals are wild and not necessarily healthy when caught or hunted, so they can transfer their germs to the humans who cook or eat them. Their disease, a so called zoonosis, is transferred to human. That can happen if the microbe (be it bacteria or worse, a virus) can handle the passage to human body. It so happened this time it could, because the corona-virus of bats is 98% of the one found in Wuhan patients and
the corona-virus found in pangolin is 99% of the one that produced the human disease called COVID-19.
It is weaker than the corona-virus that gave SARS (bird related viral pneumonia in Asia) or the one that determined MERS (camel related pneumonia in Middle East) – the latter reached to 30% dead.
We were very proud of our swift way of travel everywhere in the world; this time to our disadvantage – some countries in Europe got sick before neighboring regions of Wuhan. The bad part is that our immune system is accustomed with regular flue viruses, most of them related and generating various types of more-or-less active reaction, but such totally new RNA virus which is very contagious sparks a very dramatic reaction of immunity and keeps it less operative while dealing with the virus (immunity is gained in 7-14 days commonly). During this time less obvious germs like common bacteria or nanobacteria can take advantage and hit to kill. The savage conflict with the virus, fills the patient’s lungs with fluid and the patient is no longer able to breathe. Now I heard many stories about fabricated virus – by the Americans or by the Chinese, about the deadly effect of 5G networks which is “covered” by the virus “story” and other moron stuff. These theories are presented by sometimes trained people (hello Russian secret service!! Happy Easter!!) but they will catch in
ignorant and morons, who will willingly disperse such junk, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IT!!!!!!
In many countries wearing a mask everywhere outside the house saved many lives. Unfortunately, the Romanian government did not insist on that – possibly because they did not have enough of them. It is important to protect the air we inhale/exhale to shield ourselves and the others from the little droplets we spit (while talking, sneezing, coughing, laughing, etc.). Wearing the mask would reduce the number of patients to one third of what we have now. Wear the mask wherever you go and do not touch it with your dirty hands. The mask is not perfect, but it can still protect you 90%. Wash your hands, especially when you come from outside. I know the Easter is coming and we all want to be together with family. I strongly believe that a fresh lot of would be patients is not needed right now, especially some to mingle with the untested population. This is why, we, those living in Romania, with love and pain in our soul, ask our friends and relatives, to join us in a solitude faith test this Easter. The virus is more powerful than love, it is like a bullet for a soldier. And we know that there is no soldier that can run faster than the bullet coming for him. Do not expose yourselves and us. We agree with the measure of stopping for 14 days quarantine anyone who comes from abroad. I
know it is frustrating, but we will live to love and fight another day. Nobody needs dead heroes. We have doctors and nurses facing the enemy sometimes empty handed; some got ill themselves or even died. We do not want to disrespect their sacrifice and the health of the community. Think for instance someone (stranger to you and family) breaks the law and by that infects your family member or several family members. If one of them dies, you cannot blame the person for intentional killing, but the person can be prosecuted for endangering other people and eventually unintentional homicide. Still, it is unfair to have people die because of ignorance or social disrespect.
WE will take our revenge after we get the vaccine, and we will compensate for the baked cake, for the roasted lamb, for the fresh salads and grilled fish, swimming in white or red wine. God give us the Holly Light, the patience and wisdom to healthy survive this crisis, as if we are alive and healthy we can accomplish anything.
Happy Easter folks!
